I plan to use these ESP-12F chips for a lot of projects so I needed a better way to prototype them. There doesn't seem to be a feasible commercial solution so I hacked together this jig to do the job for me.

It took about 10 test prints to the right frame.

I tried a top down approach first but that didn't work well as the pins were too forceful and close together.

I then tried to put the pins on both sides to give more spacing and that worked well but it was hard to pull the chip in and out. The final design allowed me to put the chip in and then slide the other side on while making sure all the connections are good. I added some buttons to make programming easier.

It's ugly, but it works really well.
